That is actually possible, since it has been done by our studio (meaning my brother :D ). It did take a lot of work though for him to get it to the point that it is impossible to tell it is not real, but he is extremely good at CG and the like.

But I do agree, the use of real legos is much better than trying other things, since you don't have to spend days trying to make it look real. Plus it is so much nicer to have physical sets to work with.

Good luck with the Kickstarter; you always make amazing videos, so I am looking forward to this with much anticipation.

Thanks for the support everyone!
I do have one question though. In your description on the Kickstarter page, it says you wish to be able to send this film to festivals so it can be eligible for an Academy Award. I think this is super cool, but would that be allowed by the LEGO Group? As in, you using their product to win a major awards show. Or would they just not do anything about it? I'd really like to know.
If anything I'd think it would be promoting their product. I know others, such as Sméagol, have taken Brickfilms to film festivals and I don't think have had any problems, but the Academy Awards would be rather different. If it comes to that, I'm sure I'll find out though.
I actually find Zombies: Genesis more enjoyable than most of the Oscar winning shorts I've seen, so it doesn't sound at all beyond the reach of possibility.
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that.
I like the Kickstarter pitch. Talking on camera like that, AS YOURSELF, is the hardest thing ever to me (just did it yesterday for my upcoming Kickstarter) and I think you did a good job with the video.
Thanks. I didn't find it easy either, and I had to do 10-15 takes of every one of my lines, then refilm all of them the next day, before I had something I was happy with.
By the way, is the film itself sci-fi or does it take place in "today's" world? And, is it just me, or does Duman look a bit like Ogel from LEGO's old Alpha Team theme?
Anyway, I'm really excited for this. Will it eventually be available on YouTube? Also, if you by any chance need voice actors, I'd love to help out. (Sorry about all the questions, by the way. )
As to the setting of the film, I'd rather not give anything away just yet. Duman's look is definitely inspired by Ogel, yeah. The film will be available on YouTube after it's played at film festivals. Thanks for the voice acting offer! I've already completed all the voice recording, though.
So anyways I'd love to donate to this project, and I might. But if I do, It won't be much.
I appreciate that. Your story is pretty sad... I can promise you that won't happen with this project.
It sounds very promising and I wish you the best (the poster is gorgeous), but I can't help to think that creating an entire city out of Lego bricks is a bit overkill. If the city is just there for spectacle and the wow-factor, I see a lack of reason in why you could not be a little more ingenuitive and just use some masking/duplicating or clever forced perspective. Just thought I'd put it out there.
The worst part is though, his newspaper wrote about how he was working on the project and mentioned that he made over 150 dollars! "Wow!" And I was like yelling at my computer screen saying "80% PERCENT OF THAT IS FROM ME AND I DIDN'T GET ANYTHING!"

But anyways, this thread is about the film. Not my rant.

That's terrible, co0lwill. But ultimately it's up to the integrity of the person making the project, not Kickstarter, as to whether or not the film will be completed on time. It's frustrating that kids come along like that and ruin it for the rest of us, starting a crowdfunding campaign is definitely not something to be taken lightly.

Looks like that particular project was on IndieGoGo, though. If I were in your spot, I'd probably continue to hassle the guy about getting your money back.

The last time I donated to a kickstarter for a Brickfilm, I was thoroughly disappointed. *Flashback* I was stupid, thirteen, and was mowing lawns for a living (last summer) Made about $100. And here comes SUMKID101 with his Kickstarter for his Brickfilm with some title that began with a V. Being seduced by his awesome rewards (A personal shout out video on his channel, a poster, DVD, and "a special thanks") I donated 100 dollars. Stupid me, I know. *Flashforward* In the end I gave up on getting my prizes OR money back. And guess what he didn't even finish the project! Nor did he ever apologize. is may just sound like a bunch of ranting to you guys. But to me.... I'm a fourteen year old out 100 bucks.

So anyways I'd love to donate to this project, and I might. But if I do, It won't be much.

The kickstarter video was very entertaining. I must say, though, that your use of CGI is highly impressive and I think that it's some of the best I've ever seen in brickfilms. And good luck with going for the Oscars! As Squid said, with films like Zombie: Genesis, I think you stand a good chance of success. (What about copyright, though?)
