Just because a LEGO theme is based off of a less kid oriented thing doesn't necessarily mean it would be bad. So far from the PG-13 films LEGO has made into sets none of the more violent aspects of them have been translated into the sets, so the end up looking like harmless children sets.

It's just that the Simpsons looks really ugly in LEGO.

Now, if LEGO were to do something like Downton Abbey, I would totally want that. Especially the matching footman's uniforms.

Let's face it guys, there are several Lego themes that aren't appropriate for younger kids. 1. Lord of the Rings, although nothing vulgar, the films are pretty violent and dark. I wouldn't let a kid under 10 watch those films. 2. Harry Potter, I myself have never seen the films, but what I have herd they are pretty dark to. 3. The Dark Knight, do I need to go there? My point is, that there Lego themes that most kids want be watching the films for. So we may see more of this stuff in the future. Just my thoughts.

They are never allowed to associate w/ my Lego collection, though. I've seen transforming TF MOC figures as early as in the 1990s, which is harder to do because there were far fewer types of specialized small parts (and no BrickLink , and eBay was new).

Personally, I wouldn't want to fork out any money whatsoever for those... things. :twitch:

From what very little I've seen of The Simpsons (which basically consists of about 5 minutes total of footage, plus the ride at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida) it does seem to be a pretty funny show, though that still doesn't mean it would fit well with LEGO. The only LEGO theme based off a TV show that I'd really want would be Doctor Who, and possibly Sherlock.

Actually, I just remembered, we're getting a collectable minifigure series for the Simpsons. Know what that means? That means that there's a good chance there will be a few minifigs that have the printed sleeves without having to spend $200 or bricklink the minifigues. They're $4 instead of $3, which isn't really too bad for a licenced theme. I just want a MARVEL Super Heroes minifigure series...
You'd be surprised. If you click on that Facebook link that Pushover posted, and just scroll through those comments, you'll see some people (mainly adults, however) who actually do want this set "that badly"...
Hmm, it looks like you're right. For the adults who love the Simpsons but don't have anything to do with LEGO it seems like it's almost a novelty item . A $200 novelty item seems expensive though.
THe fact that this is a more mature series means that my Big Bang Theory Lego idea is feasable.
This seems like an odd license for LEGO just because it is a more mature series (but not really that bad compared to most of what's on today). I don't believe LEGO would ever make a Big Bang Theory set because the show is basically comprised of stereotypical characters making sex-related jokes and...well, that's about it from what I've seen. I saw like two seasons of it during a sports road trip and I was paying attention off and on but yeah, sexual humor is all it really seemed to have. Well, and a few nerdy super hero moments.

It seems to me that the people on Facebook etc. who really want this set are fans of the show, and not really AFOLs. Still, I suppose this might attract new AFOLs (though I'm not sure whether that would be good or bad). For now I'm still traumatised by those horrifically ugly minifigs. :dizzy:
Bart has an ID card with his face on it, thus it is almost useless for any other purpose.
That would be Homer you are referring to. Bart is the boy with the red t-shirt and skateboard (I do know that much about the Simpsons...).

The printed shirt-sleeves are certainly useful, but that is probably just about the only good thing to come from this theme, in my opinion. And they're sure to turn up in a bunch of other themes in the future, so there's probably not even any exclusivity to that.
