Please tell me you're not using the high ratings = high quality argument, Lech. By that logic, Glee and Jersey Shore must be two of the best shows ever made.

While I can't speak to the overall quality of Big Bang Theory as a whole, the one episode I have seen, the pilot, ranks among the worst things I've ever seen, ever.[/quote]

Correct about ratings not = quality. But I actually like the BBT. However, Modern Family IS a highly rated show that stinks. The point to my post was that the Big Bang Theory, whether you like the show or think it's terrible, did make a cool reference to Lego animation!

Detects possible Game of Thrones insult... *goes ballistic*

Don't unleash my inner nerd-rage, guys. While something like Game of Thrones is indescribably fantastic (seriously, read the books and/or watch the show), Big Bang Theory is far from it. It is smothered by sub-par, unfunny, predictable situations, which reflect the worst aspects of American 'comedy'. It's true that I have no love for American sitcoms, and this is a prime example of such. It's really quite a dreary show, in terms of humour (black comedy, stand-up, sketches, and Captain Mannering-esque are my preferred types).

Ratings don't mean much. It depends on the network, on the air time and etc. gosh some shows get the praise after they are finished (Star Trek TOS for example). By your logic Two and a Half Men is a high quality sitcom which BTW is not. Big Bang Theory is ok, but I think it's overrated, I do enjoy sitcoms though so I watch the show every once in a while.

My argument here is that your opinions are the minority and given that you've only watched one or few episodes, your opinions are less than informed. "By that logic", Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and Homeland are the worst shows ever and I've never seen one episode of any of those shows.

Having watched all of BBT thus far, my opinion is that it appealed to the nerd culture at first, but most of the characters have since evolved from their stereotypical geek/nerd archetypes (some getting married, finding a girlfriend, becoming more social, or stayed pretty much the same). As such, it's lost its appeal and has become another multi-character sitcom.
