I really like that MI.6 track, Loïc! I can imagine it a big budget spy thriller - very professional. I also digged the score of Taco Trouble 2, BTW. :)

I recently scored my own brickfilm, Time Cruisers: Origins - Chapter 1, and I uploaded the music by itself on YouTube.

Titles: Main Title, Enter Tony Twister, Magic Mountain Time Lab, Holograms & End Titles and Time Twisters
Composer: Me (Arginnon)
Genre: Electronic/Orchestral (I'm not really good with musical genres, TBH :P )
I did some delay effects, used the sounds of ticking watches and imitated a cuckoo clock with flutes to bring the time travel theme into the music as well.

Hi guys, Loïc here.
I'm an oldtimer of the Brickfilms.com era when I wrote soundtracks for a lot of fellow brickfilmers.

Lately, I've been scoring Taco Trouble 2.
And (far) before this, I've been working with Jay Silver, Jason Rowoldt, Chris Salt,...

My last track is :
- MI.6
- Scored, arranged and mixed by me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=127oZ8aJLC8&lc=Ugz_LyRMTW9u0rLfE554AaABAg

My gear revolves around a MacBook Pro, Logic Pro, a constellation of plugins (FabFilter, SoundToys, Plugin Alliance, etc.) and libraries (Spitfire, Orchestral Tools, Aaron Venture, Strezov, ProjectSam, etc.).

Happy to see that audio and scoring in Brickfilms has reach such a pro level now. :D

Heads up for fellow composers: Spitfire audio has made a stripped-down 'beginners' edition of their recent BBC Symphony Orchestra library, and are selling it for $50 OR free if you answer a survey and wait 2 weeks. The entire thing is less than a gig, and IMHO sounds really, really great.

Where Are We Going?

Did this mock-up by ear in just an hour or two. Tried to only limit myself to the BBCSO library, but ended up using 3 or 4 extra vsts (organ, an extra horn/brass, and choir) just to spice it up more. You could certainly go very far with a free DAW like Cakewalk and this BBCSO now. Wish it had been that easy when I started! :P

I was driving and had heard the ice-cream truck, so it was going through the wringer of my musical brain. I decided to put it into organ form for the steamboat willie project, I used Miditzer to simulate the sounds of the Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ.
Amazing work, Jorden! Nicely orchestrated and smooth on the ears. How was it like working with a real ensemble?
Thank you! I appreciate your compliment.
In short, it was fantastic!
The long answer is that what's always the most compelling part of music for me is finally hearing it from a live player, not as much the writing of it. For this project we were very limited in time; writing was relatively rushed, we had about a quarter of the recording time that a professional orchestra would use to record 50 minutes of score, and we're playing with a non-professional college orchestra. So it meant that the writing had to be very intentional in the technicality and complicated nature of the music - writing for live players is very different than just writing using sample libraries. So a lot of stuff was kept very simple, moreso than I would have liked.
But it was an incredible experience, we got through it, and I have stuff to show for it!

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've been around here at all. I'm now in California studying music composition, and thought it would be fun to post tracks from a feature-length student senior thesis film (live action) I scored this previous school semester. It ended up being 50 minutes of music total, and we were fortunate enough to be able to record it live with our school's string orchestra. It's by no means 'professional', but was an incredible learning opportunity and I'd love
for some of you to check out these bits of the score. Obviously this is just a few minutes of it, and the movie is still in post production so the full score will be released some time this next year.

All these were composed, orchestrated (with an assistant for some orchestration), and conducted by Jorden Davis.

It's a treat whenever someone composes an original score over using a canned MacLeod track. The intro/basic beat is cool, the bass synth could be a little louder in the mix, imho. The melody on the strings sounded a bit like you pasted the drum beat onto the string staff on your midi software. I think a slower or more simple melody would contrast the intense drum beat better. The whale calls and whiny synth sounds were a nice touch though. Great action film, can't wait to see (and hear) the next installment!
