Not true! This is if you have a previous version of Dragonframe/Dragon Stop-Motion and you want to upgrade it.
Ah rats. Keesret beat me to it. He is correct. An upgrade to an already purchased version is $95, a new version is $295 (and really, just check their site. It is right there in the upper right corner...).

@backyardlegos I definitely get what you are saying and agree partly. I mean, I use Helium Frog, which is free and much better than MJ in my opinion, and get along pretty much just fine. As far as DragonFrame and the others go though, there is a reason DragonFrame is so used. I have tried nearly every stop motion program that works on Windows and I have to say, DragonFrame is really nice to use. Not just for features, but because of how it is organized. That is something everyone takes advantage of, whether or not everyone uses all the features.

Something that seems to be ignored a lot is that there are other programs in between the amazing and professional level DragonFrame and the free stuff like Monkey Jam. Some examples are StopMotionPro and AnimatorHD, both of which have multiple different versions to fit your needs based on skill level and budget, they're good programs, and seem to get ignored a lot. From what I've seen, most of the people who use DragonFrame don't even get close to it's full potential, and could make the same film with a much cheaper program. Also, always check for student pricing; both StopMotionPro and AnimatorHD have it, along with most other nice computer programs. (But not DragonFrame, sadly.)

Your asking whether DragonFrame (Which is $300 by the way. You could have checked their site...) is better than a free program aimed mainly at pencil animation (The stop motion stuff is just kind of thrown in I believe.)? Well, if you really need the answer :) , then yes. DragonFrame is better, but again, it does cost a fair bit. As for being compatible with those webcams, I'm sure it is (it would be pretty pathetic if it wasn't). In fact, I know it is with the QP 9000 because I have used the demo with it.
