Thank you for your responses! Mr.Rundown101 and legomoviemaker1, thank you for you suggestions, but I bought a Mac so that I could use it as a Mac, as I don't particularly like the Windows OS :) I heard a rumor that Logitech may be releasing far greater support for their webcams and Macs in the second half of this year. I hope it is true! My Panasonic camcorder, which is from 2008 when DV was still used, was one of the first to switch to AVCHD and does not have a FireWire port, and therefore is incompatible with iStopmotion Express. I researched the Canon Vixia HV30 Camcorder, which Bionicle28 uses (to great effect, see here: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iNsx-zqimhc), and it seems like the best choice out there, despite it's $799.99 price tag on Amazon...

Personally I use a Logitech c920 and Windows 7 for animating. However while the camera is compatible with OS X I'm not if all of its function's work with it as I know that the Logitech c910's manual focus (a vital function for brickfilming) doesn't work with MACs and the c920 might have similar issues. Another option is to purchase windows 7 (or download the windows 8 release preview) and run it in your mac via bootcamp and then you've much more options on software, hardware etc.

I have been using an iPod touch to do stop-motion with my LEGO lately, and it is a very tedious, low-quality approach to making animated movies. So, although I haven't posted any of these clips, due to the lack of a YouTube account *yet*, I have been wanting to progress further and to a higher level with my films. I have extensively researched webcams, from Logitech, IPEVO etc - and for Microsoft Windows, there are some truly great options out there - but as a Mac user, the support of webcams is lacking to say the least. Another unsupporting factor is that all major camera companies, including Sony, Panasonic and Canon, have all switched their Camcorders to support the AVCHD format, as well as ditching FireWire; therefore leaving the outdated, yet useful for Brickfilmers, DV format in the dust. So there is now no live view 'modern' camcorders compatible with capturing software like Boinx iStopmotion or DragonFrame. To top it off, the the DSLR option is unaffordable for me right at this point in time...

So as a newbie, starting out in the world of Brickfilming with a Mac, it's quite challenging to get up and running. So I was wondering if the far more experienced members of this forum could compile, in the comments below, a list of what they use (cameras/capturing software/computers) in the comments below. Not only would this help me, but more importantly, it will allow people who are just starting up with Brickfilming to get a good idea of what the options are, and what they may need. So if it is possible, could some members contribute?

Thanks :)
