Holy sonic rainboom, Batman! Look how many colors that building has!

Does that hotel have three (or four) sides? That's not very practical for animation, especially at such a high framerate. It's going to be hard to get your hands in there.

It'll be easier to animate if you make just one (or two) walls for the exterior and seperate sets for the rooms inside.
I once thought that I should use the same set for the exterior and interior of buildings, but then [s]I took an arrow to the knee[/s]... Er, I mean; I realized that interiors don't have to exactly fit the exterior, they just need to look like they fit.
If you build a complete building, it'll be hard to get your fingers and arms in and hard to postion the camera, not to mention wasting bricks on parts the camera will never see. If it's one thing I learned from Nathan Wells, it's; "Only build what the camera sees." That way, you conserve peices and you won't be forced to mix colors.

Now, about the actual design; I think it needs more windows, and bigger ones at that. Making it a story shorter would also help with not having to use randomly chosen bricks. Try using just grey bricks.
For an abandoned, worn-down look; use textured bricks, make holes in the wall using slope and inverse slope bricks, attach brown plates to it (so it looks boared up), and put some openings with just a few clear pieces in them (broken windows). Oh, and keep the vines.

So those are my suggestions.

Hey, you use the same kind of lamps that I use!
ANP, how do you set the two second timer without touching the camera? It seems that that would just have the same disadvantage of pushing the shutter button. I would think you absolutely need a remote capture thing (which I don't have...)
You still have to touch the camera, and you can still bump it slightly.
Touching the camera usually move it a very tiny bit, it's almost impossible to notice, but this is usually present even to a slight extent even when the camera is on the floor.
Even so, there's also the matter of lighting. The timer gives you the opportunity to bring your arm back as so it will be less likely to reflect off of something or create a shadow.

Thank you, all of your thoughts are very helpful. The hotel is meant to look like it is overgrown and been through several wars. I had some very vibrant bricks in it at a time and I hated it, it looked like a circus, so I put darker colors to make it look chipped away at and graffitied.

My tripod is extremely good because it holds my camera in place, and even when I press the button it doesn't move because its so sturdy.

Thank you for your advice on the microphone I'll probably get it in a week or two.

I know 24 fps is insane. But I think it will look amazing in certain fight scenes. i was thinking about 15 fps, but I want this to be as smooth as possible.

Thank you so much for the great advice!

Since you're doing a war movie, You're probably going to want some gun flares at some point. I wrote a detailed description on how I do flares a while ago, and it may or may not be useful to you.
*le link to gun flare how-to
I'd recommend doing it with more realistic colours though.

I too animate with no frame capture software, I'm pretty weird. This has it's downsides, but I think I've proven that you can still make a good film without it.
I'd suggest getting a wire remote for your camera, this way, you can take pictures without touching it and bumping it, which adds a horrid shake through the film.
If you cannot get one, use a short 2 second timer, and be very careful. This can sometimes mitigate that sort of wiggle, as it moves slightly when you touch it.

For microphones I used a Logitech 600 for several years, which has decent quality, and I don't think they're incredibly expensive, but I've now switched to the Blue Snowball, which is really, really great.
For audio recording and editing, I'd recommend downloading a free program called Audacity.

24 FPS is quite an ambitious undertaking. Are you sure you can pull it off? If you can't do it really well, I'd recommend practicing a whole lot, or possibly moving down to 15 which can still look really, really nice if you are really skilled and careful.

Regardless of what you plan, it's a good idea to do lots of test animations and post them on the internet to get peoples thoughts on them.
I made a load of tests just recently to get back into the swing of things (it's the second link in my signature), and it can be really helpful.

I hope that I've been somewhat helpful. Welcome to BiM. :)

Just Talking
Okay, I'm new on here, so yeah. Anyway I'm not on Vimeo on You Tube just because I don't want an idle account for the next 7 months or so. So I've started work on a huge brick film called Operation: Nuke-Tel. It will be divided into 20 5-minute parts at 24 fps. I'm sorry you can't see any of my animation to gage how well I can do this project.:( But I promise it will be amazing, visually, and an amazing story filled with intrigue and mystery. I will be posting pictures, frames, updates, etc. on this thread.
Technical
Camera: Canon Powershot SX40 HS
Stop motion Software: I don't use one, LOL I know that is weird
Editing Software: Gimp, Motion 5 (MAC)
Microphone: Don't have one yet (Suggestions Welcome)

The Movie Plot
The year is 2043, The world is making large advances in warfare. U.S. and Russia are allies. A large war is being waged in South America against the U.S. The Middle-East is having minor wars between themselves, and Europe is at peace due to it's new defense systems no one wants to mess with. The U.S. is recruiting as many able men and women into this war of the Americas. Meanwhile Russian and American scientists have been working on combining a small amount of a Hydrogen bomb and an Atomic bomb to create a powerful bomb that only wipes out streets, but makes it look like it has been run over by a rolling pin and burned. Russia also created a special plane from scraps of American planes that were totaled, called the Pelikan (Meaning Pelican in Russian). A terrorist organization has risen from the ashes of their warring civilization to hijack the Pelikan, and wipe out Washington D.C. it seems like they were hired by South America, or were they?
A special team of operatives, the best of their kind called the PMW's, The Private Mercenaries of War. They were hired by a high-level general that has enough money to fund this operation since the U.S. is deep in debt itself being engaged in a war. They are going into the middle of the middle-east (so to speak) to an abandoned hotel where the operation is taking place, what is this mission about. All they know is that it involves a Nuke, they have to find out what this mission is about and stop the terrorists in their tracks.

Thank you If you read this whole thing, I may have gone overboard with the description, sorry. Casting call will be up in a month or two when I get down with the first part of the script. There are like 45 open characters at the moment maybe less depending on how many local people help out. So if you could lend your voice for 2013 on this project, it would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!
Enjoy!
