Thanks for the advice everyone :)

I do mostly buy the cheaper plain bricks boxes to make my sets, but I buy actual sets for larger props mostly.

And thanks Sean, I think I'll be combing Bricklink thoroughly now :)

Also, I got Yavin 4 and the Death Star today, and I think it will be well worth my investment, as well as great decor for my room after I finish filming :)

But you should try to create a CGI planet in Blender. (Or ask someone nicely!!! :) )

With miniatures like the planet sets it makes it much easier to do space scenes, be it green screened or filmed in a slightly darkened room in front of a black cloth.
I don't know what storyline you plan on following but I would also reccomend something that is small and has more minifigures. Easier to animate with.

As you all have probably experienced in the last few years, Lego inflation is 2nd to none. The prices for a decent set these days, whilst reasonable, will set you out of pocket (admit it, as much as we love Lego, we can't afford the set we want, when we want it).

Anyway, I'm about to undertake on filming some short Star Wars brick-films (from the original trilogy). What Star Wars sets do you think are necessary for an essential brick-filmers collection? No extra bricks required, just the Star Wars sets? Give me, say, the top 5 that I should invest in.

Also, what do you all think of the new Lego Star Wars Planets sets? Do you think the planets and the mini vehicles, as well as the mini-figs, would be worth the $15 AUD, and use them in green/blue screening?

Thanks for any advice,
~K~
