Step 1) Look at your film and decide on a good subject of the film
Step 2) Go here and look for synonyms
Step 3) Find one with a good sound to it and check the definition for relevance.
Step 4) Look to see if it is already a film or a popular media ( for example, don't call your film Facebook or Call of Duty)

Don't think too hard about it, but do consider it. A title is the first thing we see, don't kill our first encounter with ALL CAPS or numerous exclamation marks.

Seriously though, I usually think of a general title for the film before editing it to make it more suitable. Just remember not to try too hard to make it sophisticated; there are many films that have awesome names and it relates no where near the actual story line.

It really depends.

Some times you have some clever word-play which can be a pun, parody, or mini rhyme which somehow goes with the thing. This would probably be best for comedy titles, but, it could be used for other things.

Another thing would be a very obvious title which is the main thing in the story (Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, The Hunger Games, The Avengers) which is simple, but can work very nicely, especially if your main thing sounds cool.

And one of my favorites would be somewhat indirect titles, which involve a detail which isn't very obvious, but more obscure, but sometimes relevant to the story in different degrees. It also sometimes happens that the characters might say the name in the story, which adds a lot of significance to whatever it is they said.
One of my favorites is The Prestige.

There might be other types of names, but I can't think of them right now.

My suggestion would be to think up a name of each type, and decide which works best.

What Hazzat and Pritchard say are good. However, there are some things to think about when deciding upon a title. It shouldn't reveal too much as to spoil anything in the plot. So far I have never had trouble coming up with a film title, I have a hard time coming up with film ideas. I'd just watch your film or think about the plot and try to come up with a title that is both attention grabbing and memorable. :)

Well, I do one of two things:

#1. A cool name just "Hits me" along with the basic idea, and I flesh out the story based on the name and what it brings to mind.

#2. I begin scripting a project but can't think of a name and somewhere along the way a cool name just pops into my head.

So yeah, that doesn't really help. :P
One thing is to think of what the main plot is centered around, (The person, event or idea) and go from there. For example, my Captain Obvious film has a very cartoon-y, cheesy and obvious name to go along with the very cartoon-y, cheesy and obvious video.

I don't think there's one clear formula for creating a good film title, it depends on the film. The best ones involve double or triple (ambiguous) meanings and clever wordplay, and finding that can only come out of interpreting what the film in question is about.
