Maybe you can do it without photoshop, if you can indicate the lighting off in outside and inside indicate the light to the house. I don't know can I do it myself too, but it would be nice looking if you can do it without problems.

And the third picture is pretty good, it looks pretty good, so very good work on that then.

I think it'll come out better if you do it in production.
To do that, you could put a lamp or two on the "inside" part of the set and put a black piece of cloth for the background "outside" and light that part indirectly (i.e. pointing a lamp to the side so only a bit of light is on the set).

Instead of attempting this in post-production, do it in plain old production. Only shine your lights on the inside of your set, while leaving the outside slightly dark. It's the opposite of fancy pants' of making it look light inside (by opposite I mean camera angles. Instead of showing the house from the outside, show the outside from withing the house). One thing I already notice with what you're doing is that if you mask every frame in photoshop to change the darkness, there is going to be a lot of movement (unless doing 'perfectly').

I'm trying to make it look like it's dark outside the window, but light inside the house. I managed to do this, but I end up with these rough edges.

Original pic:

My attempt:

Anyone know how I can blend the edges or anything else to make it look good?
