Does that mean you fixed it?

Is there a ":" before the "(__________)" you saw?  If so, it's an emoticon.  Tilt your head to the left and you'll see a face.

So, you have to hit the button when you take a picture?  Do you have it attached to anything, or just sitting on your table or floor?  Either way, it has to be made stable and secure somehow.
