Well, I guess if you don't want a webcam, then just get the expensive camera. I offered a solution to the problem you mentioned, but seeing as you didn't take it, there must be more things about it that annoy you. Just curious, what are those other things?

boardron, "angles" could also mean camera angles, which means the same thing as point of view. I thought that was what he's talking about because it's hard to get many camera angles without a cradle.
Angles? Ha, you can get any angle you want with a webcam. All you have to do is build a cradle out of Lego to encase it (make sure your cradle has a flat bottom so you can attach it to rigs). Then, attach a few tiles to the baseplate, so that they are paralell to each other and don't touch. Put a round stud piece between two of the plates. This way, you can move the camera side to side and get any angle you want. To get other angles, build a rig that will put it in the postion you want.
Please search on the difference between wide angle and Tele lenses. You'll see.
The webcam is a close focussing, wide angle lens.

What you are talking about is point of view.

If you're going to use the DSLR for brickfilming only, you don't need 600 dollars...
- i bought a used canon 1000D body: 175 euro's.
- three (!) used manual lenses (29mm, 50mm, 35-70mm + extension tubes) + adapter: 80 euro's.

But if you want to use the camera for regular photography, yep, go for THE new stuff...

The lens you use with a DSLR is a big factor. Ideally, you'll need a lens with a wide field of view but can also focus close to the lens. The Quickcam Pro 9000 for instance, does a great job at this. The kit lens (18-55mm) on my Canon DSLR can't touch it (not to mention the aperture related flicker issues).

The Quickcam Pro 9000 can produce great results, and it's inexpensive. That being said, I use a DSLR. With the right setup a DSLR can't be beat. But getting the right setup is more involved and expensive than just buying the camera.

If you're looking to improve your setup, I would consider software over hardware. Is After Effects something you could use? It's amazingly powerful for an experienced user, but it's also very effective even for the less experienced.
