This is how (at the beginning) I practiced myself to be a voice actor. It really worked for me.

Exactly what redbrick1 said. BE THE CHARACTER. that's the most important thing in voice acting. also, you gotta have a recording device that you're happy with, and it musn't distort the voice into somethin that sounds weird. Not expensive, i got my headset for $10 at a discount variety store. Works perfectly and really good sound quality.

if you want, sound editing software is great too. you can make certain voices louder for different scenes and scenarios.

Mmm... I'm not really sure I have a good way to explain how to voice act nicely. :P I do loads of voices for my films, I'm pretty good, I think, but I'm not sure how to explain. Most of the time, I just do silly voices. xD It gives the movie a great cartoony feel. But I'm not sure how exactly you could do better... maybe just try to put some emotion into it. I don't know.

But if all else fails, you could just get someone else to do a voice. :)

Oh, you want a serious answer. Try impersonations. Mimic your favorite characters. If the reason your voice acting sounds so read is because you're reading off a script, then practice until it sounds natural before you record.
