A Lego Brick Animation: Dancing

YouTube

Made for the Animation Challenge Thread. Unfortunately, I did not get as much time as I wished to animate this week so I did not get anymore than this done. Also, sorry for the messed up test at the end, that was YouTube's own fault.

Great animation, Michael.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: A Lego Brick Animation: Dancing

Any other feedback before this sinks into the depths of the release forum?

Re: A Lego Brick Animation: Dancing

Well, it was nice that you tried not to use minifigs. For the rest, the animation looks a little rough and rushed, and the minifig at the end it's a bit choppy. Also, the lighting it's too harsh.

Re: A Lego Brick Animation: Dancing

Thanks for the feedback. How do I make the brick animation look less rough? I was only moving it by a stud each time. Would it help to raise the FPS?

Re: A Lego Brick Animation: Dancing

I think the problem it's that everything looks too fast. When the brick becomes a long line, you should have added a brick 1x1 for each frame instead of 3x1, for example (in fact, the part at 0:06 works quite well because of this). But actually, this it's kind of an abstract form of animation, and I'm not sure how it could be improved.
I should try it myself and see how it's done and maybe learn a few tricks, that way I could help you better, but all I can do now it's try to imagine how I would have done it.
Another thing you can do it's watch other films of this kind and analyze the animation, you'll surely find something helpful.

Re: A Lego Brick Animation: Dancing

It was definitely original, and took a different take out of all of the entries. You've improved a lot since I've last seen your work, good job.
